Paris was historically shaped around the Seine, with its docks serving as hubs of activity. Once used by launderers, these areas now support both transportation and recreation. While many of them have been reconfigured over time, the François Mitterrand dock, opposite the Louvre, and the dock near the Tuileries have remained largely unchanged.
This project envisions a new urban promenade stretching from the eastern moats of the Louvre Museum to Place de la Concorde. It expands the docks with functional niches—kiosks, cafés, restrooms—while redistributing traffic flow. The key architectural and urban challenge is to re-establish a visual and sensory link between the Tuileries Garden and the Seine through the existing underground passages.
Given the significance of re-engaging Parisians with this central urban space, the project includes a music venue with a concert hall and performance space as an initial draw. The architectural approach balances preservation of the historical setting with the need for functional modern usage.
